Have a knack for numbers? If so an accounts receivable or invoicing business could be a very profitable work at home business for you! In a nutshell, your basic responsibilities in this business will be to provide an invoicing service to your clients.
On a predetermined scheduled basis your clients should provide you with a list of new accounts, in which you will turn into professional invoices that you will send to each client. In addition, It will be your responsibility to follow up with each of the clients account holders regarding late payments, by sending reminder notices etc.
When sending reminder notices, it will also be your responsibility to calculate and relay any late payment fee's and add them into the new invoice. In some cases you may even need to contact your clients via telephone and arrange a payment plan or verify the date a late payment will be sent.
You may also set up an account for each business that you represent, so that payments can be sent to you in your clients name, you will then note the payment and forward these funds to your client on a scheduled basis.
When deciding what to charge your clients for your services, you might do a google search for other invoicing and accounts receivable businesses to find out what the current market rate for the service is.
There are a few ways that you can bill your clients;
- Per Invoice
- Per Month
- Percentage Basis
- Hourly
Percentage Basis billing means that you will withhold an agreed upon percentage of each paid invoice. When using the hourly basis method, be sure to keep an accurate log book of all time spent working with each account, and account for the time that you spent by noting exactly what you were doing for your client.
